Position Summary                

This position is primarily responsible for leading a team of material handlers in compliance with safety and health policies to meet production needs under the supervision of the Grain Operations Manager.


Essential skills and experience        

  • Knowledge of safety regulations
  • Experience with grain elevator operations, shipping, receiving, drying
  • Experience leading and directing people
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, time management
  • Maintenance skills, electrical knowledge
  • Experience in the operation of industrial rolling stock (skid-steer, telehandler, front loader, forklift) and grain handling equipment
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma


Reporting to this position Grain elevator material handlers


Description of Duties:


  1. Responsible for dumping all grain coming into the plant
  2. Responsible for the housekeeping, the equipment and the operation of the elevator
  3. Responsible for daily inspection of equipment both stationary and rolling stock
  4. May have to work overtime some nights and weekends as needed
  5. The harvest window, Sep 15 Dec 1, will have extended hours, 24 hour needs
  6. Ensure all duties are performed in a safe manner in accordance with safety policies
  7. Any other duties that management may assign

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing the material handling staff.Included in those responsibilities are assigning scheduled maintenance, housekeeping, and operational tasks, and leading them to completion. Safety and regulatory compliance must be enforced at all times.

  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for extended time frames, walk; sit; use hands and fingers, to handle, climb, work in heights, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear.  The employee must lift and/or move up to 50lbs.  The employee must be able to work in heights.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


  • Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Some areas have been designated areas to use hearing protection.  Hard hat and safety glasses are required in designated areas.
